A small notebook of observations from the garden and the kitchen window: what bloomed, what failed, and what I would do differently next season.
The tomatoes finally gave up. The last green ones are ripening on the windowsill, slowly and without much enthusiasm. The apple tree, ignored all summer, produced more fruit than the family could eat.
Leaves, coffee grounds, and eggshells. The pile runs warm even on cold mornings, and the worms seem to approve.
